What our customers are saying

The feedback that I have heard is that these planters have really brightened up dull areas.  The fact they are sustainable too is amazing!  So much thought has gone into this and we are just so proud to say that we have been given such an amazing thing.  We would highly recommend any other schools applying for these if they come up again.

The team that fitted them were fantastic too, so polite and graceful.  Hardly knew they were here and got it all done in one day!

We’re thrilled to have been awarded the Alliance or Partnership of the Year award at the Water Industry Awards for our partnership with the Department for Education.

SuDSPlanter® were a fantastic supplier to work with, working within our timescales, providing over 250 planters, soil and plants for installations at schools across the southeast. The planters do an amazing job helping to reduce flood risk for the schools and slow the flow of rainwater entering the sewer network.

Our aims & objectives

SuDSPlanters® are a cleaner, greener more sustainable way to guard against today’s increasing risk of flooding and contamination and can also provide water storage in dry or drought conditions, as well as storm storage designed to cope in wet environments. This makes SuDSPlanter® ideal for our changing weather patterns, combatting the increasing flood risk and water scarcity which we face.

Our mission is to enhance the environment for everyone by offering sustainable solutions and educational initiatives that raise awareness about the importance of water. We aim to create interactive, biodiverse habitats that help combat climate change and prevent urban flooding.

FAQs

How much rain water can a SuDSPlanter® hold?
Storage volumes depend on the size of SuDSPlanter® selected but range from 150 litres for the smallest of size up to 900 litres for the largest.
What maintenance does a SuDSPlanter® require?
Maintenance is pretty much limited to taking care of the plants as you would with any small garden, and we can provide a plant maintenance guidance document to assist. The structure and operation of the SuDSPlanter® generally requires no maintenance apart from infrequent visual inspections to check for any impact damage to the powder coating of the metal frames.
Are SuDSPlanter® available in different colours?
The metal frame of your SuDSPlanter® can be powder coated in virtually any colour and the recycled plastic lumber infill material is available in either Grey, Brown or Black.
Can I use SuDSPlanter® to store rainwater for reuse?
We can supply any SuDSPlanter® configured to retain a proportion of the storage volume to use for irrigation through the addition of pumps etc.
Can I water the garden with water from a SuDSPlanter®?
Rainwater that passes through or is retained in your SuDSPlanter® can be safely used to water the garden.
Does a SuDSPlanter® clean or filter the rainwater from the roof?
All the roof runoff rainwater that enters your SuDSPlanter® passes through the growing media/soil which cleans and filters the water removing pollutants such as bird poo, sediment, leaves etc.
What plants or grasses can I use in a SuDSPlanter®?
There is a huge range of suitable plants and grasses that can safely be used in your SuDSPlanter®, and we can provide a comprehensive plant selection guide to help choose what plants are best in your location and aspect.
Will my SuDSPlanter® come with soil/growing media?
All SuDSPlanter® units we supply include all the required pre-mixed growing media/soil which we have carefully selected to ensure the correct hydraulic performance as well as healthy plant growth and health.
How long will my SuDSPlanter® last?
We expect all SuDSPlanter® units to last at least 15 years, if not longer, and if our stainless-steel frame units are selected, we can offer extensive, extended warranties, depending on location and nature of install.
Will I need to assemble my SuDSPlanter®?
No – all SuDSPlanter® units are delivered fully assembled only requiring levelling and filling with the provided soil, once in place, and outlet pipework connected to drainage point.
Will a SuDSPlanter® save me money?
Many Water Companies offer financial incentives to disconnect properties from their surface water or combined sewer systems which can reduce your annual water bills if SuDSPlanter® units are used as part of disconnection project. Also, the use of SuDSPlanter® units as opposed to designing and constructing in-situ rainwater planters can save money in time and resources.
How does SuDSPlanter® benefit the environment?
SuDSPlanter® helps reduce the impacts of surface water runoff into sewers thus reducing the likelihood and frequency of combined sewer overflows, the negative environmental impacts of which, are well known. SuDSPlanter® also provides much needed new biodiversity and air quality improvements, particularly when used in a retrofit application. In addition to this, SuDSPlanter® prides itself in using only recycled / recyclable materials in the manufacturing and delivery of every SuDSPlanter®, so enabling us to create a circular economy approach to our product range, and ensure we minimise our environmental impact across the whole supply chain.
How heavy is each SuDSPlanter® prior to filling with soil?
The weights of SuDSPlanter® units ranges from approx.. 90Kg for the smallest size up to 205 Kg for the largest.

SUDSPLANTER® ENVIRONMENTAL & SOCIETAL ETHOS

Making our gardens greener and our cities, rivers and beaches cleaner

Todays’ climate means we face uncertain weather patterns, increasingly frequent exceptional episodes and a depleting environment. ‘Once in every 10 years’ floods are now happening every two, three or five years. Issues with more extreme weather have been exacerbated by the loss of permeable landscape, and its replacement by hard landscaping, paved areas and vast areas of tarmac or construction. All of which means we have increasing amounts of surface run-off: rainwater ‘looking’ for somewhere to go… and it reaches our traditional piped drainage quicker than ever before and in larger volumes than ever before too.
